RSS Feed reader....Say Whhaaatt??

Honestly, I'd never heard of this...EVER...I've always seen the little tabs that said RSS or the symbol, but I never paid much attention to it. After using Google Reader the past couple days, I do see benefits of it. It cuts down on the average time spending to look for recent news and it also filters out what you really want to read about. I could definitely see it being beneficial, especially for business oriented minds. They would be able to keep up with the ever changing stock market and flow of business at a much faster and easier pace. Some drawbacks would be having to actually go through and mark and star the ones that you like and also the fact that when you follow it, as far as I can tell, you follow everything that they post. This could be a real drawback. I don't think I'll be using the RSS feed anymore just because I only visit a handful of websites a day, none of which are "too much to handle."

Oh, Pioneer woman....

http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/10-top-business-blogs-and-why-they-are-successful/

In this article, Amy Porterfield examined the top 10 businesses that have blogs and use them successfully. Several of her main points are that the blogs connect the reader to the business by keeping it simple. She also points out that several of the blogs stay "true to their roots" by keeping their themes true to their business. Making sure the blog is easy to read and navigate is also essential to a blogs life and popularity. Photos are also very popular because it lets the reader see what your talking about. Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond, is a PERFECT example of utilizing a blog. She has a cookbook and showcases her photography on her blog. She has made her blog interesting by keeping the theme of "Pioneer Woman" in her blog by making it a western themed blog. In addition to selling her cookbooks and photography, she also makes money by the ads that companies put on her blog because of attention it gets.

Allow me to introduce myself...

My name is Erin Kate Parker....I'm 23 years old and a Senior at Georgia Southwestern. I live in Tifton, GA so I take online classes. I am a personal banker at Ameris Bank in Tifton. I have been there since May 2006. I actually started to work there 2 weeks after I graduated high school. I have 2 dogs, Annie and Gunner. They are both my heart <3 Some of my favorite things to do are shop, play basketball and tennis, go to the lake and take random road trips. I hope that I will graduate next fall with a bachelors degree in Business Management.Three of my favorite websites are facebook, twitter and msnbc. I think its crazy that the "facebook" craze has reached all new levels. I can remember back when it was exclusive to college students, then to high school students. I actually believe it was better that way, because it was like a rite of passage when you got into college to "earn" a facebook. Twitter is new to me, but I do like it.  Its interesting to see the different businesses, celebrities and random people that "tweet." I keep up with msnbc because its a central location to keep up with news around the world, in the US, the economy and entertainment world.
